Offering a rapid-acting and well-tolerated solution for individuals with treatment-resistant depression and anxiety.
The Centre of Clinical Excellence for Veterans and First Responders Health offers Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (dTMS) to promote brain neuroplasticity and neuronal regeneration. This innovative therapy shows significant promise in treating PTSD, depression, anxiety, other mental health challenges. dTMS, approved by the FDA, uses magnetic fields to activate neural networks in the brain to improve symptoms of mental health conditions, including: Major Depressive Disorder (MDD)AnxietyPost-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) A TMS session involves a series of short magnetic pulses directed to the brain to stimulate nerve cells. The magnetic pulses stimulate area neurons and change the functioning of the brain circuits involved. Most sessions are 20-minutes in length, and a majority of patients notice a difference in themselves by the end of the first week. Many patients see a 50-60% decrease in symptoms and have little to no downtime post-treatment, helping them to continue on with their daily lives. TMS is an evidence-based treatment that is Health Canada and FDA approved for treatment-resistant depression and other mood disorders. Veterans Affairs Canada covers TMS therapy for up to 90 sessions per calendar year for eligible Veterans.
