ABOUT THE CENTRE OF CLINICAL EXCELLENCE – VETERANS AND FIRST RESPONDERS HEALTH (VFRH):

The Centre of Clinical Excellence – VFRH, was founded to support the mental and physical health and wellness of Canada’s Veterans & first responders. This brand new, first-of-its kind Centre of Clinical Excellence (CCE) is located within the Legion Veterans Village in Surrey, BC. The CCE provides a unique & great opportunity to be part of serving and supporting our first responders, armed forces, Veterans, other public safety personnel, and their families. 
The Centre of Clinical Excellence focuses on clinical health care and rehabilitation services, innovative research and health technologies, as well as leading-edge treatment for PTSD and mental health. POSITION SUMMARY:

We are looking for a PT who is quality-focused and wants to be part of a high-functioning, interdisciplinary team of Physicians, RNs & NPs, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Clinical Counsellors, Kinesiologists, and Nutritionists/Dieticians. You will work in interdisciplinary pain, mental health, and substance use treatment programs, treating clients with complex care needs. This position offers a unique opportunity to utilize a range of clinical skills within a biopsychosocial model of care. At the Centre of Clinical Excellence our PTs are focused on empowering clients to restore physical & mental health and regain control of their lives. We are looking for PTs passionate about understanding the complexity of the mind-body connection and guiding patients back to the activities important to their quality of life in a safe & realistic manner.

As part of our interdisciplinary team of professionals, the Physiotherapist builds motivation & confidence in clients, empowering them with education and offering specialized support for chronic MSK injuries, mental and neurological conditions, and return-to-work.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Working with clients with chronic and/or acute pain, substance use issues, and/or mental health conditions 
  • Create and implement individualized treatment plans based on interview and assessment
  • Develop and work collaboratively with the team to support and address client rehabilitation goals to support forward progress 
  • Think outside the box to overcome barriers to treatment, while dedicating time to foster trust and build a therapeutic alliance with your clients 
  • Ongoing assessment and monitoring of client progress, and modifying interventions to achieve and/or maintain optimal physical & mental health performance/functioning 
  • Utilizing e-charting software to document treatment sessions; submitting reports to stakeholders in a timely manner
  • Work closely with Centre of Clinical Excellence practitioners to meet identified client needs and achieve excellent client outcomes

  • Registrant in good standing with the College of Physical Therapists of British Columbia

  • Clients would describe you as warm, empathetic, respectful and someone who takes the time to learn each individual’s unique story 
  • Interested in both personal growth & growth of the organization 
  • Newly graduated with a desire to learn & be challenged OR an experienced therapist looking for change 
  • Experience working with Veterans & first responder, mental health & trauma populations considered an asset
